Fraser Island

I’m on my way to Fraser Island after leaving Hervey Bay
And as I sail my fondest wish is for you to be along with me
Your bravery is ne’er forgotten by the women of this gracious land
For as they walk the shores of Fraser, here they hold onto your coloured sand

I fell in love with the many coloured joyful apparition in the sky
Bathed in light, warmth overwhelming, bestowing solace from on high
Safety’s mine within his reaches, everlasting peace of mind

Save Burwilla’s sly endeavours to remove me from my kind
Burwilla’s ceaseless careless cruelty, his boomerang a deadly foe to
To rainbow’s vow to e’er protect me from a slave wife’s life of woe
Alas he charmed by use of magic my night-watchman when rainbow rests
And succeeded to entrap me, now his wife subject to his request

A woman’s scorn is often cited as more potent than the flames of hell
But cowardly Burwilla rallied when he heard the night-watchman’s bell
One fowl blow against my rainbow had colours dancing through the sky
And as they fell, they formed high towers, pinnacles along the shore lie

The Bonny Light Horseman

Oh, Napoleon Bonaparte, you're the cause of my woe
Since my bonny light horseman to the wars he did go
Broken hearted I'll wander, broken hearted I'll remain
Since my bonny light horseman in the wars he was slain

When Boney commanded his armies to stand
And proud lift his banners all gayly and grand
He levelled his cannons right over the plain
And my bonny light horseman in the wars he was slain

Oh, Napoleon Bonaparte, you're the cause of my woe
Since my bonny light horseman to the wars he did go
Broken hearted I'll wander, broken hearted I'll remain
Since my bonny light horseman in the wars he was slain

And if I was some small bird and had wings and could fly
I would fly over the salt sea where my true love does lie
Three years and six months now, since he left this bright shore
Oh, my bonny light horseman will I never see you more?

Oh, Napoleon Bonaparte, you're the cause of my woe
Since my bonny light horseman to the wars he did go
Broken hearted I'll wander, broken hearted I'll remain
Since my bonny light horseman in the wars he was slain

And the dove she laments for her mate as she flies
"Oh, where, tell me where is my true love?" she sighs
"And where in this wide world is there one to compare
With my bonny light horseman who was killed in the war?"
